In early summer of 2010 the leadership of the Falls Creek camp had a problem. They had an idea for their theme but needed a way to make it look exciting enough to draw in youth groups from all over the state of Oklahoma.

The solution was to design an old style neon diner sign for them to promote their camp.

Once the brand was finalized they wanted a fully functioning neon sign on stage. I helped get the design to the fabricators.

The old diner theme was fully realized in the rest of the collateral promoted the camp.

Gold ADDY® Award

I home brew beer with my father in law and got bored looking at blank beer bottles.

We joked about me designing a label for it a few times until I convinced myself it would be a fun personal project. I sketched and planned and designed a way to get two stickers out of one printing and had some fun writing the copy for the label.

This goofy thing even won a Gold Addy. Proof, you should never underestimate your personal projects.

OSAGE SHIELD

I’ve never liked the Osage shield on the Oklahoma flag. It always look like a big plate of color barf from a distance.

Up close Mrs. Louise Funk Fluke’s homage to the Osage people is beautiful. However, when viewed at a distance or used on something small like a badge the image quickly loses its visual integrity.

I solved both issues by designing my version of the Osage shield using thicker lines to illustrate its features. This new version holds up nicely at a distance and on things like this patch.

During the summer of 2014, I was down to the last few pages of my favorite sketchbook.

I had grown accustomed to its shape and could not find another one online like it. So, I decided to make the sketchbook you see here. It’s made for working creatives in any industry.

If you’re the type of person who’s more interested in getting the work done than looking cool in a coffee shop, this sketchbook is for you.

Fun. Remember it? I’ve heard it said that if you’re a designer and you’re not having fun, it’s your fault.

I was playing around with some old paper 3-D glasses and wondered what if they were bigger. I love the color and creativity that goes into Lucha libre masks and decided to make myself some using the 3-D glasses as a template.

I sent some to friends and started selling them online. To my shock, they started selling. Proof that if you make something you want, chances are someone else wants it to.

The good folks at theVerses Project are taking on a huge challenge. They want people to memorize scripture. They ask local musicians and designers to help them with that task.

When they approached me for help I gladly took the opportunity. I have always been my favorite, albeit neglected, client. So I jumped at the chance to add value to their site.
